第一則：菲律賓南部發生 7.8 強震！台灣列入監測海嘯範圍
菲律賓南部民答那峨島於 6 月 8 日上午發生強震，各國機構測得規模介於 7.8 至 8.2，震源深度約 10 公里，當地部分地區停電，官方呼籲居民前往高處避難。
美國太平洋海嘯預警中心警告，菲律賓沿岸 3 小時內恐出現 1 至 3 公尺海嘯；印尼、馬來西亞預估 0.3 至 1 公尺海嘯，台灣、日本及關島則可能受到輕微影響，台灣氣象署正持續追蹤後續影響。
7.8-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Southern Philippines! Taiwan Included in Tsunami Monitoring Area
A powerful earthquake struck Mindanao in the southern Philippines on the morning of June 8. Different agencies measured the quake at a magnitude between 7.8 and 8.2, with a depth of about 10 kilometers. The earthquake caused power outages in some areas, and authorities urged residents to move to higher ground.
The U.S. Pacific Tsunami Warning Center warned that tsunami waves of 1 to 3 meters could strike parts of the Philippine coast within three hours. Waves of 0.3 to 1 meter are also expected in Indonesia and Malaysia, while Taiwan, Japan, and Guam may see minor sea level changes. Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration said it is closely monitoring the situation.

Middle East Ceasefire Collapses? Trump Urges Israel to Delay Retaliation
Israel carried out airstrikes on Hezbollah strongholds in Beirut on June 7, prompting sharp criticism from Iran. Later that night, Iran launched at least four waves of missiles targeting cities and air bases in northern Israel. The Israeli military said it intercepted multiple missiles and pledged to intensify its campaign against Hezbollah.
The latest fighting has effectively ended the ceasefire agreement reached in April. U.S. President Donald Trump later called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and urged him to hold off on any retaliation to avoid jeopardizing diplomatic talks. The U.S. Embassy in Israel has instructed its personnel to seek shelter, while the international community has urged both sides to return to the negotiating table.

Chinese Coast Guard Enters Pratas Islands! Taiwan Condemns Beijing’s Gray-Zone Tactics
Chinese coast guard and research vessels entered the restricted waters around Dongsha Island on June 5 and 6, leading Taiwan’s Coast Guard Administration to closely monitor the vessels and escort them away. Following the launch of maritime boundary talks between Japan and the Philippines, China announced on June 7 that it would conduct maritime law enforcement operations in waters east of Taiwan.
Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council accused China of using its coast guard operations to conduct gray-zone tactics against Taiwan and reaffirmed that Taiwan’s sovereignty and fishing rights cannot be challenged. Taiwan said it would remain in close communication with Japan and the Philippines while urging China to resolve differences through diplomatic channels. The Executive Yuan also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the Indo Pacific region.

Simple Mart was founded in 2006 and now has about 813 stores across Taiwan. In 2024, the company recorded revenue of NT$14.2 billion and ranked third in Taiwan’s supermarket market. Simple Mart focuses on community-based business and mainly serves regular customers within a radius of about 250 meters.
Simple Mart attracts consumers with low-priced daily necessities and a variety of hobby products, such as NT$6 bottled water and about 40 kinds of beer. Simple Mart also continues to update its products and store formats. The company uses partnerships and data analysis to gradually improve customer loyalty and operating efficiency.

More Choices Than Ever, But Are You Truly Free?
In 1941, psychologist Erich Fromm published Escape from Freedom, a book that describes people’s psychological struggles. Although we have more freedom to choose, we can easily fall into anxiety and helplessness because of loneliness and the heavy responsibility that comes with choice.
Fromm defines true freedom as spontaneity. This means showing our real selves in love and work, while also taking responsibility for our choices. Only then can we truly live freely.
