Possessing E-Cigarettes Could Bring Fines of Up to NT$100,000! Repeat Drunk or Drugged Drivers May Be Without Parole
The Executive Yuan is pushing for legal changes to strengthen drug and drugged driving prevention. Since “Zombie Vape Cartridges” are commonly used in e-cigarettes, anyone who possesses e-cigarettes in the future could have them confiscated and face fines of NT$30,000 to NT$100,000.
The proposed amendments will also adjust parole regulations. In the future, repeat offenders convicted of Driving while Intoxicated, including drugged driving and drunk driving, would be denied parole if they reoffend within five years. The government hopes this will deter drug use at the source, strengthen enforcement, and punish drugged driving more severely to protect public safety.
China’s Maritime Law Enforcement Threatens Regional Stability, Several Countries Express Concern
China recently launched a “special maritime traffic law-enforcement operation” in waters east of Taiwan. The move has raised concerns from the U.S., U.K., German, and French representative offices in Taiwan, which said China’s actions threaten regional peace and stability.
Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs later released a statement thanking these countries for their support. It said maintaining peace in the Taiwan Strait and the waters surrounding Taiwan is a shared international interest. The ministry also said China is using law enforcement as a cover to expand its authority. It added that China’s actions lack a basis in international law and affect freedom of navigation, calling on China to stop increasing threats against Taiwan and the region.
Venezuela Hit by Two Strong Earthquakes! Nationwide State of Emergency Declared
Venezuela was hit by two shallow earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 on the evening of June 24. The two quakes struck less than one minute apart, causing widespread power and internet outages in the capital city of Caracas, while severely damaging numerous buildings.
Authorities have declared a state of emergency, suspending all public transportation and school classes, while the airport has also been closed due to damage. The United States Geological Survey warned that there is a 44% chance the death toll from this disaster could exceed 10,000 people, and the U.S. along with multiple Latin American countries have already pledged to dispatch search and rescue teams and provide medical assistance.
Culinary Class Wars Reveals the Success Formula of Jensen Huang and Steve Jobs
An investment expert used the popular show Culinary Class Wars to analyze the common traits of successful entrepreneurs and top chefs. He said that whether it is NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang or Apple founder Steve Jobs, success comes from long-term passion, continuous value creation, and the willingness to adapt to changing market conditions.
Career development can be divided into three stages: ability, reputation, and trust. In the end, the key factor that determines whether a person can become a leader is often not technical skill, but the trust and influence built over time.
Stop Chasing “Finish It Today”! The Slower Time-Management Approach That Productive Workers Use
Traditional time management often tells people to finish everything on the same day, but this can leave workers constantly reacting to unexpected tasks. The “do it tomorrow” principle suggests delaying new tasks by one day and using a closed list, which sets a clear cutoff for each day’s tasks and prevents new items from disrupting the original plan.
Once a closed list sets the tasks for the day, the order becomes less important as long as workers complete everything on the list. This means they do not need to keep deciding what to do first. For larger projects, workers can write down the steps or begin with one simple action, then make small but steady progress to lower the mental barrier.
Let’s wrap up today’s episode. We’ve learned about some important events happening around the world.
The Executive Yuan is pushing for legal changes that immediately confiscate e-cigarettes with fines up to NT$100,000, while denying parole for repeat drunk or drugged drivers within 5 years.
Several countries have expressed deep concern after China launched a special maritime law enforcement operation east of Taiwan, a move criticized by Taiwan’s government to expand its authority in the region.
Venezuela has declared a nationwide state of emergency after being hit by twin 7.2- and 7.5-magnitude earthquakes, while the U.S. and several Latin American countries have pledged rescue and medical aid.
An investment expert said that long-term passion, adaptability, and trust are the key factors behind lasting success and leadership.
The “do it tomorrow” method helps workers regain control of their time by setting clear daily task limits and reducing the pressure to react to every new request immediately.
In the next episode, we will together explore the recent hot news with you in the morning. Don’t forget to come back. Have a nice day and hear me next time. Bye.
