尼泊爾與中國西藏邊境因冰川崩塌引發嚴重山洪與土石流，造成近 400 人罹難、超過 1,400 人失蹤及數百人受傷。其中，一支由 26 名外籍旅客與 5 名當地嚮導組成的 31 人朝聖登山隊前往神山途中遭泥流吞沒全數失聯，生還希望渺茫。
目前搜救仍全力進行，但土石堵塞河道形成高危險堰塞湖，隨時可能潰壩。隨著季風逼近，加上災區斷水斷電，救援更加艱困，救援團隊除了持續搜尋失聯者，也嚴密監控水情，防範二次災害發生。
Deadly Glacier Collapse Hits Nepal-Tibet Border! All 31 Pilgrims Reported Missing
A glacier collapse along the Nepal-Tibet border triggered severe floods and mudslides, killing nearly 400 people, leaving more than 1,400 missing, and injuring hundreds. Among the missing is a 31-member pilgrimage climbing team made up of 26 foreign tourists and five local guides. The group was swept away by a mudflow while heading toward a sacred mountain, and hopes of finding survivors are now very low.
Search and rescue operations are continuing, but the situation remains dangerous. Debris has blocked a river and formed a barrier lake that could burst at any time. With the monsoon approaching and the disaster area facing water and power outages, rescue work has become even more difficult. Teams are searching for the missing while closely monitoring water levels to prevent further disasters.

立法院於 8 月 27 日三讀通過《強化國防自主暨無人載具產業發展條例》，規劃未來 6 年以年度預算投入 2,400 億元，每年原則編列 400 億元，由經濟部統籌產業發展，軍用採購則由國防部負責。
條例除納入沿海監控、攻擊型無人機與小型自殺無人艇等裝備，也要求設立特別委員會監督產業策略，每 4 年提出發展綱領。對於未採取特別預算，行政院與國防部表示遺憾，仍表示會配合後續編列，推動國防自主與無人載具發展。
Taiwan Legislature Passes New Drone Law! NT$240 Billion Over Six Years to Boost Defense Self-Reliance
The Legislative Yuan passed the Act to Strengthen National Defense Self-Reliance and Promote the Development of the Unmanned Vehicle Industry on August 27. The government plans to spend NT$240 billion over six years through its annual budget, with about NT$40 billion allocated each year. The Ministry of Economic Affairs will oversee industry development, while the Ministry of National Defense will be responsible for military purchases.
The law covers equipment such as coastal surveillance drones, attack drones, and small one-way attack unmanned surface vessels. It also requires a special committee to oversee industry strategy and publish a development plan every four years. Although the Executive Yuan and the Ministry of National Defense expressed disappointment that a special budget was not used, they said they would still move forward with the funding plan.

Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama died in Tokyo on August 14 from multiple organ failure at the age of 97. Since childhood, she had experienced hallucinations in which she saw dots and net-like patterns covering her vision. These images later became key elements of her art and helped shape her unique style.
Kusama moved to New York in 1958 and gained international recognition for her bold and experimental work. She became best known for her Infinity Mirror Rooms and dotted pumpkin sculptures. As one of the few Asian women to gain a major place in the Western contemporary art world, she built a remarkable career in both Japan and abroad. Her death marks the end of a legendary life in art.
