第一則：美軍一個月內首度攻擊伊朗 伊朗反擊駐約旦美軍
美軍於 8 月 30 日打擊伊朗拉拉克島上的 2 座發射器，美方表示，伊朗革命衛隊當時正準備向荷莫茲海峽發射攜帶水雷的火箭，伊朗隨後攻擊駐約旦美軍，但幾乎所有來襲飛彈均遭攔截，目前未造成重大影響。
這是美國自 7 月底暫停軍事行動以來，再次發動攻擊。美伊戰爭已持續 6 個月，近幾週川普政府轉而發動經濟戰，而非原先的軍事打擊。美國參議員批評，這場戰爭至今未達成任何目標，反而削弱美國於中東及全球的地位。
U.S. Strikes Iran for First Time in a Month, Iran Retaliates Against U.S. Forces in Jordan
U.S. forces struck two Iranian launchers on Larak Island on August 30. Washington said Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were preparing to fire rockets carrying naval mines into the Strait of Hormuz. Iran later attacked U.S. forces stationed in Jordan, but nearly all incoming missiles were intercepted, with no major impact reported so far.
This was the first U.S. strike on Iran since late July. The war between the United States and Iran has lasted six months, while the Trump administration had recently prioritized economic warfare over military strikes. U.S. Senator criticized the war, saying it had failed to achieve any of its goals and had instead weakened the United States’ position in the Middle East and around the world.

日本製核避難所設於海外相當罕見，報導認為，此舉是為了因應台海局勢升溫，強化突發事件發生時的危機管理與人員安全，由於台北事務所實際承擔相當於日本大使館的職能，相關設施也突顯日方正提升台海危機的應變能力。
Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association Reportedly Installs Nuclear Shelter to Prepare for a Possible Taiwan Strait Emergency
The Sankei Shimbun reported on August 30 that a Japanese-made underground nuclear shelter was installed this spring at a facility linked to the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association’s Taipei Office. The shelter is designed to protect people from nuclear, biological and chemical attacks. It has a special ventilation system, a blast-resistant door and an earthquake-resistant design. The association declined to comment, citing facility security.
Japanese-made nuclear shelters are rarely installed overseas. The report said the move was intended to strengthen crisis management and protect staff as tensions rise across the Taiwan Strait. Since the Taipei Office performs functions similar to those of a Japanese embassy, the shelter also suggests that Japan is improving its ability to respond to a potential crisis in the Taiwan Strait.

Federal Reserve Sends Hawkish Signal, Taiwan’s Central Bank Faces Growing Pressure
Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh warned on August 28 that if inflation did not fall quickly to its 2% target, the Fed may need to raise interest rates again to control price growth. The market then raised the estimated chance of a September rate increase to 59.7%. The Bank of Korea has also raised its Base Rate by 0.25 percentage points to 3%, while the Bank of Japan has suggested that it may raise rates in the future, adding to rate pressure across Asia.
Taiwan’s central bank has kept interest rates unchanged for nine straight quarters. However, two board members argued that inflationary pressures have yet to subside and that the current policy stance is too accommodative, especially given that the full-year CPI inflation forecast has been raised to 2.07%. The financial sector believes the conditions for a September rate hike are forming. The final decision, however, still rests with the Governor of the Central Bank.

MUJI Reports Record Profit, but Loses Shoppers in Japan
MUJI’s annual net profit reached 50.8 billion yen in the last fiscal year, setting a record for the second year in a row. However, sales at its existing stores in Japan fell by 6% last December. A survey also showed that nearly half of Japanese consumers believe MUJI’s products are too expensive.
MUJI is now making changes by opening low-price stores with products costing 500 yen or less, expanding its food and secondhand product lines, and moving into local communities. The company hopes to bring customers back more often and aims to raise its revenue target to 1 trillion yen.

Google Partners with Taiwan to Bring Gemini to NHI App
Google has announced plans to develop AI-powered healthcare in Taiwan. It will work with the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the National Health Insurance Administration to bring its Gemini AI model into the Health Passbook. The system can assess diabetes risks based on de-identified disease history and medication records.
The AI model has already been introduced to clinics, helping doctors complete risk classification and treatment assessments more quickly. In the future, the technology may be expanded to help prevent hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and chronic kidney disease. Google’s philanthropic arm will also provide US$1 million to bring AI health services to rural communities.
