Heavy Sentence in Jinghua City Case, Supporters Flood Ketagalan Boulevard for Mass Rally
On March 29, the TPP held a Ketagalan Boulevard rally backing Ko Wen-je after his 17-year first-trial sentence in the Jinghua City case, as Huang Kuo-chang pushed judicial reform and criticized procedural unfairness.
The TPP said more than 10,000 “Little Grass” supporters joined the rally, while Ko Wen-je said he would never surrender. However, some people at the scene also raised flags to show opposing views. A brief argument broke out, but it was quickly brought under control after event staff stepped in.

U.S. Senate Delegation Arrives in Taiwan, Presses Legislature on US$40 Billion Defense Budget
A U.S. bipartisan delegation arrived in Taiwan on March 30 to meet with Lai Ching-te and lawmakers, urging quick passage of the special budget bill amid debate over the US$40 billion defense budget.
The special defense budget is still under negotiation. The KMT said it will support the bill if it meets Taiwan’s needs and the U.S. is willing to issue a letter of offer and acceptance, while the DPP reaffirmed the importance of defense self-reliance. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that, amid pressure from China, Taiwan will continue strengthening its self-defense and maintaining the status quo.
Oil Surge Won’t Stop! CPC Raises Prices for the Third Time, Absorbs NT$7 Billion
Starting March 30, gasoline and diesel prices were raised by NT$1.70 and NT$1.50 per liter by CPC. As U.S.-Iran tensions, Strait of Hormuz disruptions, and attacks on energy facilities pushed global oil prices higher, this marked the third gasoline price hike this month.
To stabilize prices, a special mechanism has been launched by the government and CPC, absorbing nearly NT$7 billion since the conflict began. Special financing is being considered to ease CPC’s burden, with subsidies adjusted based on future oil price changes.
第四則:連執行長也可能被 AI 取代?科技業掀討論

Could AI Replace CEOs? Tech Industry Debates the Future
Google’s CEO said in an interview with the BBC that artificial intelligence may one day take over some of the work of a company’s chief executive. He said AI will replace some jobs while also changing and transforming many others.
A survey shows that 49 percent of CEOs believe most of their work could be automated by AI in the future. However, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said that although AI can greatly improve efficiency, it still cannot fully replace human leaders at this stage. Different opinions about AI replacing top management continue to appear in the tech industry.
Stop Saying the Word “BUT” All the Time! Learn the Art of Pausing in Conversation
In everyday conversations, people often start their responses with negative words such as “no,” “not,” or “but,” and may even suddenly raise their voices. Even without bad intentions, this way of responding can make listeners feel attacked and increase negative emotions, affecting the tone of communication and relationships.
Experts say people should pay attention to their tone and replace negative words with more positive ones. When they feel the urge to reply with “but” during a conversation, taking a short pause first can help make communication smoother.
Let’s wrap up today’s episode. We’ve learned about some important events happening around the world.
More than 10,000 supporters joined the TPP rally for Ko Wen-je as a short dispute with opposing groups was quickly resolved.
Taiwan’s defense budget remained under discussion as visiting U.S. senators encouraged swift legislative approval.
Escalating tensions around the Strait of Hormuz drove another fuel price hike, while the government moved to reduce pressure through subsidies.
Google’s CEO said AI may one day handle parts of a CEO’s job, though some tech leaders say it still cannot fully replace human leadership.
Starting replies with words like “but” or “no” can make others feel attacked, while pausing and using more positive language helps improve communication.
In the next episode, we will together explore the recent hot news with you in the morning. Don’t forget to come back. Have a nice day and hear me next time. Bye.
