第一則：日本東北外海 7.7 地震 18 萬人避難
日本東北三陸外海於 4 月 20 日發生芮氏規模 7.7 的極淺層地震。日本總務省隨後對北海道、青森、岩手及宮城等地發布避難指示，約 18 萬人受到影響。
岩手縣久慈港觀測到 0.8 公尺海嘯，東北新幹線一度停駛約 4 小時後恢復通車。日本氣象廳警告，未來一週可能出現強烈餘震。台灣總統賴清德表示，台灣已準備在必要時提供協助。
Magnitude 7.7 Earthquake Hits Northeastern Japan, Nearly 180,000 Evacuate
A magnitude 7.7 shallow earthquake struck off the Sanriku coast in northeastern Japan on April 20. Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications later issued evacuation orders for areas including Hokkaido, Aomori, Iwate, and Miyagi, affecting about 180,000 people.
A tsunami measuring 0.8 meters was recorded at Kuji Port in Iwate Prefecture. The Tohoku Shinkansen was suspended for about four hours before service resumed. The Japan Meteorological Agency warned that strong aftershocks may occur within the next week. Taiwan President Lai Ching-te said Taiwan is ready to provide assistance if needed.

Apple CEO to Step Down, Ternus to Take Over in September
Apple announced that current CEO Tim Cook will step down on September 1 and move to the role of executive chairman. Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering John Ternus will take over as CEO.
Cook has led Apple since 2011, when he succeeded Steve Jobs. During his time as CEO, Apple launched products including Apple Watch, AirPods, and iPad Pro. Cook also pushed the development of Apple’s self-designed Mac chips. Ternus is 50 years old and has worked at Apple for about 25 years. In recent years, he has led hardware engineering for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac and is seen as an important successor in the company.

民眾黨前主席柯文哲在台中逢甲夜市進行掃街活動時，現場發生辣椒水外洩事件，導致部分民眾與工作人員身體不適。警方初步調查指出，辣椒水外洩是台中市警局第六分局長周俊銘在執行勤務時，處置不當所致。
警政署表示，分局長已被記過並撤除主管職務，全案依傷害等罪嫌移送台中地檢署偵辦。警政署同時要求各地警方強化選舉活動安全維護與應變訓練。
Pepper Spray Leak During Ko Wen-je Campaign Walk, Police Chief Removed
A pepper spray leak occurred while former Taiwan People’s Party chairman Ko Wen-je was holding a street canvassing at Feng Chia Night Market in Taichung. The incident caused some members of the public and campaign staff to feel unwell. Police said the leak happened after Taichung’s Sixth Precinct commander, Chou Chun-ming, mishandled the spray while performing his duty.
The National Police Agency said the precinct commander has received a disciplinary mark and has been removed from his leadership position. The case has been sent to the Taichung District Prosecutors Office on suspicion of causing bodily harm. The agency also asked police departments across Taiwan to strengthen security and response training for election events.

Online travel platform ezTravel announced its operating results for last year. The company said its individual flight ticket sales exceeded 3.5 million flight segments, a yearly increase of about 40%, and global hotel booking revenue also reached 7.5 billion NT dollars, setting a new record high.
ezTravel said tensions in the Middle East have pushed up fuel surcharges, creating expectations that air tickets may become more expensive, which has encouraged travelers to buy tickets earlier. The company is also strengthening its mobile app and data services to provide a one-stop travel service that integrates flights, hotel bookings, and travel itineraries, aiming to increase user activity and market competitiveness.
