AI Demand Strains Chip Supply as Global Smartphone Shipments May Hit a Record Low
Market research firm Counterpoint has lowered its forecast for global smartphone shipments this year. The company expects total shipments to fall by 13.9% to 1.08 billion units, marking the largest decline on record. Counterpoint said that growing demand for AI products has led chipmakers to prioritize production for AI-related products, further tightening chip supply.
Industry analysts said that low-cost smartphones are being hit the hardest, and some models may even disappear from the market. As costs rise and demand remains weak, mid-range and entry-level smartphone brands are facing greater business pressure.

Booking.com has recently been linked to a suspected booking data leak, and several major hotels in Japan have issued warnings. Scammers are believed to be using information such as travelers’ names, check-in dates, and booking numbers to impersonate hotels through emails or WhatsApp messages and trick people into entering their credit card information.
More than 10 hotel groups in Japan have already issued alerts. Booking.com said it has found no signs that its system was hacked, but the investigation is still ongoing. Hotels also reminded travelers to verify any unusual payment or information update requests through official channels to avoid fraud.

Always Struggling to Focus? Four States to Help You Reclaim Your Attention
Modern people switch between screens so frequently that their attention falls apart and stress keeps piling up. Experts say that blindly going on a digital detox isn’t the answer. The key is to distinguish between four states: “boredom,” “frustrated,” “rote,” and “focus.”
Research suggests scheduling your hardest tasks during your personal peak focus hours, and using time limits to control recreational screen time — for example, only browsing social media right before a meeting. Taking mindful breaks or going for a walk outside can also effectively reset your attention and spark creativity.
