First F-16V Block 70 Returning Soon? Taiwan’s Air Force Responds

Taiwan has purchased 66 F-16V Block 70 jets from the United States. A photo of the first aircraft, tail number 6831, recently surfaced on social media. The image shows the jet at a base in Texas, equipped with three external fuel tanks and a travel pod, sparking speculation that it may soon be flown back to Taiwan.

Taiwan’s Air Force Command said preparations to receive the aircraft are still being carried out according to the U.S. military’s plan. It added that it is closely monitoring the progress of the U.S. side’s delivery and return arrangements. The Air Force declined to comment further, saying the matter involves sensitive information. A person familiar with the situation also said the jet is not expected to arrive in Taiwan anytime soon.

Google Reveals Cyber Espionage Campaign, U.S. and Canadian Research Institutions Targeted for Over a Year

Google recently released a report showing that a China-linked hacking group had secretly infiltrated several academic, medical, and military research institutions in the United States and Canada for more than a year. The hackers targeted information related to artificial intelligence, drones, military strategy, and medical research.

Google said the hackers gained access by exploiting vulnerabilities in systems commonly used by research organizations. They then used hacking tools to collect emails and other sensitive information. Google has notified the affected institutions and urged related organizations to strengthen their cybersecurity defenses.

UK Plans to Ban Social Media for Children Under 16, with Restrictions Extended to Gaming Platforms

The UK government has announced plans to ban children under the age of 16 from using social media. The new rules will also extend to some gaming platforms and live-streaming features. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the new policy could take effect as early as next spring and is intended to reduce online risks for children and teenagers.

However, some experts said the effectiveness of the ban remains uncertain. They also warned that young people may move to less regulated platforms, which could create new online safety concerns.

LinkedIn Lists Fastest-Growing Jobs, AI Engineers Lead the Demand

Career platform LinkedIn has released its list of the fastest-growing jobs this year. The data shows that four of the top five fastest-growing positions are related to artificial intelligence, with AI engineers ranking first and mainly responsible for developing and applying AI models.

The report also notes that new home sales specialists are the only non-AI role in the top five, showing that demand in the housing market remains strong. At the same time, more job seekers are turning to freelance work or starting their own businesses, and the number of users listing “founder” as their title on the platform has increased by about 69 percent in one year.

Food Waste Turns Into Gold! Smart Bins Help Cut Food Waste

Tech giant Google has announced a partnership with green tech startup Mill. The two companies will use Google’s “food waste dataset” and combine it with the latest Gemini multimodal model to develop a visual waste characterization system that can identify the types of food inside a trash bin.

The technology has already attracted foodservice giant Compass Group to sign a deal. The company plans to gradually deploy the system at 55,000 locations starting next year, with the goal of cutting food waste in half by 2030.

Let’s wrap up today’s episode. We’ve learned about some important events happening around the world.
