第一則：中聯沙拉油致癌物超標！食藥署限期預防性下架
中聯大豆沙拉油遭驗出致癌物苯駢芘超標，共約 1,300 公噸流入泰山、福壽與福懋等業者。第一層油品已於 7 月 3 日完成全面下架，食藥署公布 257 家第二層下游名單。第二層業者若使用問題油或產品含量達 20% 以上，須於 7 月 6 日前預防性下架；20% 以下則須揭露資訊。
食藥署也鼓勵餐飲業者主動揭露使用情形，中聯已遭勒令停工，衛福部也將與 4 大油廠檢討製程管理。
Chung Lien Salad Oil Found with Excessive Carcinogen! FDA Orders Preventive Product Recall
Chung Lien soybean salad oil was found to contain excessive levels of benzopyrene, a carcinogenic compound. About 1,300 metric tons of the oil were supplied to major companies, including Taisun, Fwusow, and Fu Mao. All first-tier oil products had already been removed from shelves by July 3, while Taiwan’s FDA has released a list of 257 second-tier downstream businesses. Second-tier businesses that used the affected oil, or whose products contain 20% or more of the oil, must remove those products from shelves by July 6 as a precaution. Products containing less than 20% of the oil only need to disclose the information.
Taiwan’s FDA has also encouraged food service businesses to voluntarily disclose whether they used the affected oil. Chung Lien has been ordered to suspend operations, and the Ministry of Health and Welfare will review production management with Taiwan’s four major cooking oil makers.

Emergency Contraceptive Pills Could Be Added to Drug Tracking? Critics Warn of Higher Unintended Pregnancy Risk
Taiwan’s FDA has proposed revising the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act to include two emergency contraceptive pills in its drug tracking system. The proposal has raised concerns that women may not be able to get the medication within the effective time window, increasing the risk of unintended pregnancy. The FDA said the proposal is still in a 60-day public consultation period. It also said the system would only track where medicines go, not individuals’ medication records.
FDA is considering a dual access system, allowing people to obtain emergency contraceptive pills either with a doctor’s prescription or under a pharmacist’s guidance. If a pilot program moves forward, people could obtain emergency contraceptive pills at designated pharmacies after an assessment by a pharmacist. Pharmacies would also be required to establish referral systems with gynecologists and use telemedicine when needed. The proposal is expected to complete its review by the end of this year.

Nighttime Power Supply Under Pressure, AI and Semiconductor Growth Pushes Up Demand
Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs estimates that electricity demand will keep growing over the next 10 years, driven by the semiconductor industry and AI. As solar power drops after sunset, keeping enough backup power during evening peak hours will become a major challenge, and supply pressure is expected to ease only after 2030.
Nighttime peak electricity demand is rising mainly because higher temperatures are driving greater air conditioning use, while power intensive industries such as AI data centers, cloud services, and semiconductor manufacturing continue to expand. Since production lines and cooling systems must keep running through the night, both overall electricity use and nighttime peak demand are increasing.

亞馬遜宣布將關閉 15 家 Amazon Go 無人商店與部分 Amazon Fresh 生鮮門市。無人商店模式難以在獨特顧客體驗與可規模化營運之間取得平衡，因此決定調整實體零售策略。

Amazon Shuts Down Checkout-free Store, Shifts Focus to Delivery and Supermarkets
Amazon announced that it will close 15 Amazon Go checkout-free stores and some Amazon Fresh grocery stores. The company said the checkout-free store model has struggled to balance a unique customer experience with a business model that can expand at scale. Amazon therefore decided to adjust its physical retail strategy.
Amazon said it will focus more resources on Whole Foods supermarkets and online same-day delivery services. The checkout-free technology “Just Walk Out” will continue to be licensed for use in other locations, including sports stadiums, airports, and university campuses.
