第一則：中國苦茶籽冒充台貨！檢調追查威加與代工廠
台北地檢署查出，威加國際涉嫌進口中國苦茶籽，交由源春製油廠加工後，再冒充台灣原料販售，部分苦茶油還驗出苯駢芘超標。由於源春同時替多個品牌代工，問題油品影響範圍可能持續擴大。
南北檢調於 8 月 4 日兵分 17 路搜索並約談 7 人。進一步訊問後，2 人遭聲押禁見，威加實際負責人以 100 萬元交保，檢方仍在追查進口數量、產品流向與製程責任。
Chinese Camellia Seeds Passed Off as Taiwanese! Prosecutors Investigate DYNAS and Its Oil Processor
The Taipei District Prosecutors Office found that DYNAS International Corp. allegedly imported camellia seeds from China and sent them to Yuan Chuen Oil Mill for processing. The company then sold the products as oil made from Taiwanese ingredients, while some camellia oil products were also found to contain excessive levels of Benzopyrene. Since Yuan Chuen produces oil for several brands, the affected range may continue to grow.
Prosecutors and investigators in northern and southern Taiwan searched 17 locations and questioned seven people on August 4th. After further questioning, two suspects were detained and denied contact with others, while DYNAS’s actual person in charge was released on NT$1 million bail. Prosecutors are still investigating the import amount, product distribution, and responsibility for the production process.

農業部動植物防疫檢疫署於 8 月 4 日確認，金門慈湖海堤發現的海漂豬屍帶有非洲豬瘟病毒，成為今年第 2 例，距離前一例不到一個月，顯示海漂豬隨海流抵岸的風險仍持續存在。
農業部已暫停金門豬肉及加工品輸往台灣本島與其他離島，至少連續一週無新增案例才能解除。防疫單位也完成周邊 21 場養豬場、5,558 頭豬隻訪視，並加強機場、港口與小三通查驗。
African Swine Fever Detected in Beach-Washed Pig Carcass in Kinmen, Pork Shipments to Taiwan Suspended for at Least One Week
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Agency confirmed that a pig carcass found near Lake Cih Seawall in Kinmen had tested positive for African swine fever on August 4th. This was the second case this year and occurred less than a month after the previous case, showing that the risk of infected pig carcasses washing ashore remains.
The Ministry of Agriculture has suspended shipments of pork and processed pork products from Kinmen to Taiwan and other offshore islands. The ban can be lifted only after at least one week without new cases. Officials have also inspected 5,558 pigs at 21 nearby farms and strengthened checks at airports, ports, and the Mini-Three-Links terminals.

U.S.-Iran Deal Reaches Final Deadline! Trump Gives Iran an Ultimatum
On August 2, Trump said the United States was pushing a two-phase agreement. The first stage would restore shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, while the second would address Iran’s denuclearization. He unusually described this round of negotiations as Iran’s “last chance” and warned that refusing to sign could lead to a decapitation strike against its leadership or complete surrender.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had previously said that the two sides might reach an agreement on August 4 or 5. However, Iran denied that negotiations were taking place, while Qatar said no direct talks between the United States and Iran had been arranged. It therefore remains uncertain whether the agreement can be successfully completed.

新北市政府動保處於今年 2 月起，委託動保團體重新營運猴硐貓公所，協助救援傷病貓、安排送養、教育宣導，希望讓猴硐從療癒景點，走向動保教育場域。
Houtong tourism faces transition, moving toward an animal protection education site
Houtong was once known as a famous cat village because of its stray cats. However, over the years, with the promotion of neutering policies, the aging of the cats, and some visitors feeding or interacting with them improperly, cats are no longer as densely populated as in the past, which also brings Houtong to a face of transition.
New Taipei City Government Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office, starting from February this year, has entrusted an animal protection group to re-operate the Cat Public Office to assist with rescuing sick and injured cats, arranging adoptions and promoting public education, hoping to guide Houtong from a healing attraction toward an animal protection education site.
