AI Development Hits the Brakes? Three Tech Giants Rarely Issue Warnings at the Same Time

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei posted on September 12, calling on the AI industry to slow down. Subsequently, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk expressed support, with Altman even postponing his company’s IPO, showing a rare shared agreement among the three tech giants.

This wave of statements has also triggered public speculation. Anthropic recently publicly admitted that it has observed cases of malicious AI agents getting out of control, and OpenAI had related records exposed in May. Cryptocurrency investor Kirkland speculated that the three major companies pulling back at the same time may not simply be a matter of hitting a technical bottleneck, but rather that AI agents have already demonstrated risks that are difficult to control.

Xi’s U.S. Visit Approaches, Trump Says U.S.-China Relations Are Good

China had warned that if the United States approved new arms sales to Taiwan, it could affect plans for Xi Jinping’s visit to Washington in September. U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 13 of September that he was not worried Xi would cancel the visit, stressing that relations between the two sides were very good. He said that during his meeting with Xi in May, they had held in-depth discussions on the Taiwan issue, and that he hoped Beijing would stay calm.

However, the two countries have recently faced new tensions over the Iran war and oil issues. Last year’s tariff war between the two sides also raised concerns over the global economy, while their trade truce is set to expire on November 10. This has made the September summit even more closely watched.

Cancer Prevention Upgraded! Taiwan Aims to Cut Cancer Mortality by One-Third by 2030

President Lai Ching-te said on September 13 that the government aims to reduce the standardized cancer mortality rate by one-third before 2030. To reach this goal, the government will increase the cancer screening budget from NT$2.8 billion to NT$6.8 billion, benefiting up to 6 million people.

The government is also promoting precision medicine by including next-generation sequencing in National Health Insurance coverage, while expanding the range of eligible cancer types, now covering 19 in total. In addition, the government has allocated NT$10 billion to the Cancer New Drug Fund to help reduce the financial burden on cancer patients.

ASICS Buys Marathon Registration Platforms to Better Understand Runners

Japanese sportswear brand ASICS had too many product lines and began facing losses in 2020. It later cut unprofitable products, focused its resources on running shoes and core runners, and directly acquired marathon registration platforms in different markets.

Once runners register for a race, ASICS can provide training plans, running tracking, and shoe recommendations, turning a one-time purchase into a long-term relationship. This “runner ecosystem” has helped ASICS grow its membership to more than 17 million. At the 2025 Sydney Marathon, sales at its booth were four times higher than the previous year, while the company’s operating profit grew sixfold in four years.

Winning Under Pressure! Top Athletes Rely on Eight Key Abilities to Stay Consistent

Sports psychology coach Chen Tai-Ting has worked closely with many top athletes. He found that successful athletes do not win because they never feel nervous or make mistakes. Instead, they trust themselves and make the right choices even under intense pressure.

This ability comes from long-term training, repeated failure, and steady preparation. By setting clear goals, pushing beyond their limits, and working with their teams, athletes gradually build the skills and confidence they need to perform well at critical moments.

Let’s wrap up today’s episode. We’ve learned about some important events happening around the world.

  • Major AI leaders are voluntarily slowing down AI development, sparking market speculation that dangerous agent behaviors have already occurred.

  • President Trump expressed confidence in U.S.-China relations despite tensions over a proposed arms sale to Taiwan and ongoing geopolitical differences.

  • President Lai Ching-te announced comprehensive cancer control strategies, aiming to reduce cancer mortality rates by one-third by 2030.

  • ASICS shows how focusing on core runners and building long-term relationships can turn a struggling brand into a stronger business.

  • Top athletes succeed under pressure by trusting themselves, making smart choices, and building confidence through training and teamwork.

In the next episode, we will together explore the recent hot news with you in the morning. Don’t forget to come back. Have a nice day and hear me next time. Bye.
