Pope Leo XIV Diagnosed with Lung Cancer, Successfully Has Part of His Right Lung Removed
Pope Leo XIV underwent lung surgery at a hospital on October 13 to remove the lower lobe of his right lung. The Vatican said tissue tests showed lung cancer, but the surgery went smoothly, lasted about 90 minutes, and caused no complications.
The Vatican said the lesion was discovered during a routine health check and was still at an early stage. The Pope has canceled his upcoming public events and is expected to rest for a period of time. Believers around the world have also sent their blessings, hoping that the Pope will make a smooth recovery.
IMF Raises Taiwan’s Economic Growth Forecast to 10.7%, Topping the Asia-Pacific Region
The International Monetary Fund released its latest report on October 12, sharply raising Taiwan’s real GDP growth forecast for this year from 5.2% to 10.7%. This not only places Taiwan first in the Asia-Pacific region, but also makes it one of the few countries in the world expected to reach double-digit growth.
This growth is mainly driven by demand for AI technology. Taiwan and South Korea together produce 62% of the world’s advanced chips and computing hardware. However, the IMF cautioned that AI-related assets appear overvalued, and if profits fall short of expectations, it could trigger significant stock market turbulence.
Lin Chia-lung Urges Europe Not to Rely on China! The “Taiwan Model” for Europe’s Reindustrialization
Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung delivered a speech at Warsaw Security Forum on October 13. He said Europe is facing three major challenges: security, the economy, and technology and that Europe should not rely too heavily on China’s manufacturing, but should instead seek trustworthy democratic partners.
Lin said Taiwan can use its strengths in semiconductors, AI, and precision manufacturing to help Europe promote reindustrialization. He emphasized that the “Taiwan Model” is not about creating a new form of dependence for Europe. Instead, it is based on democracy, the rule of law, and trust, making Taiwan a reliable partner as Europe develops technological sovereignty and strategic autonomy.
Stop Just Chasing Numbers! Morning Runs and Fitness Become New Symbols of Leadership for Top Executives
Recently, many executives have taken up early-morning runs, HYROX, and other high-intensity workouts. It is not only about staying healthy. Being able to train consistently is often seen as a sign of self-discipline, resilience, and good personal management, making physical condition part of a professional image.
Exercise is also becoming a new setting for business networking. Training or competing together gives people more chances to interact outside of work and build trust. As health, discipline, and networking become more closely connected, staying fit is increasingly seen by some executives as part of how they manage both work and life.
Don’t Judge People by First Impressions! How to Develop a Good Eye for People
Having a good eye for people does not mean judging someone based only on your first impression. It means taking time to understand their personality and values through their actions, the way they speak, their attitude, and how they treat the people around them.
It takes time to truly understand a person. Pay attention to whether their words and actions stay consistent under pressure, and whether they can honestly face their failures. While developing a good eye for people, these standards are also worth using to reflect on yourself and become someone others can trust.
Let’s wrap up today’s episode. We’ve learned about some important events happening around the world.
Pope Leo XIV is recovering well after a successful 90-minute surgery in Rome to remove part of his right lung diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer.

Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung presented the “Taiwan Model” at the Warsaw Security Forum, highlighting Taiwan’s technology strengths in Europe’s reindustrialization.
More executives are turning to fitness not only to stay healthy but also to show self-discipline, manage stress, and build stronger business connections.
A good eye for people comes from noticing behavior, consistency, and attitude, while also learning to become a more trustworthy person ourselves.
In the next episode, we will together explore the recent hot news with you in the morning. Don’t forget to come back. Have a nice day and hear me next time. Bye.
