Taiwan Flag Ordered Removed at 2025 FISU World University Games Support Site in Germany, Landlord Stands Firm
在德國萊茵魯爾世大運期間，台灣代表團在埃森中繼站的房東遭當地市府施壓，要求撤下台灣國旗。
During the 2025 FISU Summer World University Games in the Rhine-Ruhr region of Germany, the landlord of Taiwan’s support site in Essen faced pressure from the local city government to remove the Taiwanese flag.
房東德爾曼強烈反對，表示對此感到驚訝與失望，並堅持「將持續以驕傲的方式展現台灣國旗」。
Landlord Phillip Dörmann strongly opposed this request, expressing surprise and disappointment, and insisted he would “continue to proudly display the Taiwanese flag.”
駐德代表謝志偉獲悉後，立即向埃森市長庫芬提出抗議。
After learning about the incident, Taiwan’s representative to Germany, Shieh Jhy-wey, quickly protested to Essen Mayor Thomas Kufen.
隨後庫芬正式向台灣致歉，強調撤旗事件並非經其同意，並承諾市府未來將依德國外交部規範使用「Taiwan」稱呼。
The mayor then officially apologized to Taiwan, saying he did not approve the flag removal and promised that the city government would follow the German Foreign Ministry’s guidelines by using the name “Taiwan” in the future.
