U.S. Launches Section 301 Investigation, Taiwan's Semiconductor and Electronics Included
The Office of the United States Trade Representative announced an investigation into 16 trading partners, including Taiwan, based on “Section 301.” Officials believe these countries have excess production capacity that has significantly detached from global demand. Taiwan’s semiconductor chips and electronic products were specifically named in the announcement.
Furthermore, the Trump administration will launch another investigation into forced labor products from at least 60 countries as early as March 12. This move indicates that the U.S. is accelerating the reconstruction of trade barriers. If the investigations prove true, the U.S. President will have the power to unilaterally impose tariffs on specific goods in the future.

Taiwanese Tourists Spend NT$250 Billion in Japan! Taiwan Becomes Japan’s Second Largest Tourism Income Source
The Japan National Tourism Organization announced that in 2025, Taiwanese tourists spent 1.21 trillion yen in Japan, about NT$250 billion. The number of visits reached 6.76 million, and shopping made up 36.6% of total spending, becoming the largest expense.
The Japanese electronics retail chain BicCamera said that Taiwanese travelers most often buy health products and beauty appliances. Their travel destinations are also expanding from Tokyo and Osaka to places like Fukuoka and Okinawa, showing that Taiwan’s travel and spending power in Japan continues to grow.
Executives Become Online Influencers, Experts Warn of Brand Risks
As social media grows, more corporate executives are running their own personal accounts. According to statistics, nearly three quarters of Fortune 500 chief executives have social media accounts. Experts said that sharing personal life can help leaders connect with the public, but it may also lead to public relations crises.
Scholars said that companies must first confirm their market position and then decide whether the boss should show strong personal style on social media. If a brand targets the mass market, overly personal comments may bring risks to the company’s image and business.
When Chat Becomes All About You? Conversational Narcissism Threatens Social Connections
In conversation, when a person focuses mainly on expressing themselves and often shifts the topic back to their own experiences, it is known as “conversational narcissism.” These individuals avoid supportive responses to shorten others’ speaking time and control the focus of the discussion, often reflecting a lack of inner security.
In the long term, this communication pattern can block deeper conversations and increase loneliness. Experts suggest letting go of the need to control the conversation, sharing speaking time, listening carefully, and asking questions so the other person can continue speaking. An open and non-judgmental attitude helps build more genuine communication.
Let’s wrap up today’s episode. We’ve learned about some important events happening around the world.

Taiwanese tourists spent 1.21 trillion yen in Japan in 2025, with BicCamera noting strong sales in health and beauty products as travel expands to regional cities.
As more executives go active on social media, experts warn that personal branding can boost visibility but also create serious risks for a company’s reputation.
Research highlights that focusing only on oneself in conversation can harm deeper interaction, while active listening helps create more meaningful dialogue.
