Tsai Ing-wen Visits San Francisco, Pelosi Reaffirms U.S. Support for Taiwan
Former Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen met former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi during her visit to San Francisco on October 6. Tsai personally presented a coral-themed green scarf crafted by Taiwanese designer Jean Chun-Yuan to showcase Taiwan’s identity as an ocean nation.
After the meeting, Pelosi praised Tsai on social media as a courageous champion of democracy and a dear friend of America. She said ties between the United States and Taiwan remain strong and stressed that the U.S. Congress continues to firmly support the people of Taiwan and their freedom.
Let Iran Destroy Two California Cities? Trump’s Controversial Remarks Spark Outrage
U.S. President Donald Trump attended a campaign rally on October 5 and spoke about the war with Iran. He said that protecting the United States and the world was worth paying a small price, even saying that Iran could “take out” Los Angeles or San Diego in California.
Trump’s remarks quickly sparked outrage among California political leaders. California Governor Gavin Newsom called Trump “deranged and dangerous,” while the mayors of Los Angeles and San Diego also publicly pushed back, urging Trump to stop treating people’s lives and the safety of their cities as a joke.
North Korea Issues Rare Warning! Criticizes U.S. Over Taiwan
North Korean state media issued a rare warning to the United States over Taiwan on October 7. It criticized Washington for continuing arms sales and military support for Taiwan, saying such actions were undermining regional peace. It also urged the U.S. to think carefully about whether it could bear the consequences of a direct confrontation with China.
Meanwhile, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un also sent birthday greetings to Russian President Putin on October 7. He pledged to continue supporting Russia’s military actions and expressed confidence that Russia would ultimately achieve victory.
Can Service Jobs Pay More? Japan’s High-End Service Industry Offers Another Path
Many service businesses in Taiwan still rely heavily on standard procedures and manual work, making it harder to create higher added value. By contrast, high-end hotels and traditional restaurants in Japan pay more attention to customers’ reactions, anticipate their needs, and adjust their service in real time.
This approach is similar to how wafer fabs are managed, where problems are detected early and fixed before they happen. When service workers do more than simply follow procedures and can instead judge situations and solve problems proactively, companies have a better chance to stand out and make professional skills more valuable in the market.
High Heels No Longer Standard for Flight Attendants, Airlines Prioritize Safety and Comfort
In recent years, airlines in Taiwan have gradually relaxed dress rules for flight attendants. EVA Air now allows crew members to wear glasses and black leather flats while on duty, and China Airlines and Tigerair Taiwan have made similar changes. Because aircraft cabins are dry and flight attendants spend long hours standing, past rules on contact lenses and footwear could add extra strain on their eyes and feet.
These changes also show that airlines are paying more attention to safety, comfort, and working conditions. Japan Airlines has also allowed flight attendants to wear sneakers. From Taiwan to other countries, dress codes are gradually shifting from a strong focus on appearance toward a better balance of professionalism, health, and practical work needs.
Let’s wrap up today’s episode. We’ve learned about some important events happening around the world.
Former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi met with former President Tsai Ing-wen in San Francisco, reaffirming the strong U.S. commitment to Taiwan’s freedom and democracy.
U.S. President Donald Trump sparked intense backlash after suggesting at a rally that the destruction of Los Angeles and San Diego by Iran would be a small price for security.
North Korea warned the U.S. over its military support for Taiwan while reaffirming its support for Russia’s military actions.
Japan’s high-end service model shows that better wages may depend on turning service work from routine execution into higher-value problem solving.
EVA Air’s new dress rules reflect a wider shift toward balancing professional image with crew comfort, health, and safety.
In the next episode, we will together explore the recent hot news with you in the morning. Don’t forget to come back. Have a nice day and hear me next time. Bye.
